SMS Terms

These SMS Terms describe the text-message program offered by Kinward, Inc. ("Porchside") and supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. In short: the only text messages we send are one-time codes you ask for by signing in or by verifying your number.
1. Consent
By entering your phone number and agreeing to the consent wording shown with it, you consent to receive text messages from Porchside at that number. Some messages are sent using automated technology. We record which version of the consent wording you agreed to and when, and we keep the most recent record. On the mobile app, a verified phone number is one of two required onboarding steps, so agreeing to receive these messages is a condition of creating an account there. On our website you can create an account with an email address and a password instead and never receive a text message from us. We do not condition any purchase on consent to marketing messages, and we do not send marketing messages.
2. Types of Messages
We send one kind of message: a one-time code, used to verify your phone number or to sign you in. We do not currently send activity reminders, updates, account alerts, or promotional messages by text. Where we introduce another kind of message, we will update these Terms, ask for consent where the law requires it, and record the new consent wording. Reminders and updates about activities reach you as push notifications and in-app notifications instead.
3. Message Frequency
You receive a message when you ask for a code, which is typically when you sign in on a new device or verify your number. Frequency therefore depends on you.
4. Cost
Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan. Porchside does not charge you for the messages themselves.
5. Opt-Out and Help
Because every message we send is a code you requested, there is no marketing stream to unsubscribe from. You can stop receiving messages by not requesting codes, and you can reply STOP to stop messages from the number they arrive from, which is handled by the message provider and the carrier rather than by Porchside. Reply HELP for help, or write to support@porchside.co. Stopping these messages means you may not be able to sign in on the mobile app or verify a new device, because the code is how we confirm it is you. To stop using the Service altogether, delete your account.
6. Carriers
Messages are delivered by our authentication provider and by mobile carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers may change.
7. Privacy
We handle your phone number and related data as described in our Privacy Policy. Your number is used to verify your account, to sign you in, and, in hashed form, to let contacts find you; it is not displayed to other members. One-time codes are delivered through our authentication provider and the carriers behind it, which process delivery metadata under their own terms.
